Matter and Mixtures
Liquids particles move past one another easily. They are close together but not in a neat arrangement as the particles in solids are.
The particles of gas move fast and rapidly and there are much more larger spaces between them then between the particles of a solid and a liquid.
The particles of a solid are arranged in a tight regular shape/pattern and move around very little.
Sumblimation:
What is sublimation?
Sublimation is the stage of solid turning into a liquid without passing through the liquid stage. What would happen to the boiling point of water?
it makes fog and the water goes in to another container. Why would the cup of tea be very horrible?
the cup of tea would be very horrible because there is less pressure and the cup of tea would be very cold. Does water contract or expand from a liquid to a solid?
Water contracts because the water are becoming together into one big huddle. Why do icebergs float in antarctic and arctic waters? Do you think there is much of the iceberg under water or is it mostly above the water? How could you test your hypothesis?
i think that ice burgs float because they are so heavy that if you drop it into the water the ice burg just comes back up to the water. I could test my hypothosis by putting a heavy item in a beaker of water.
When you have a jar with a very tight lid, you can run it under hot water and it becomes easier to open. Why?
the jar lid become easier to open because the water becomes so tight at the top that it puts pressure on the lid so it becomes easier to open
Gel is a type of colloid. A gel in a colloid in which liquid particles (water) are held together between the particles of a solid. Jelly is well known as a type of gel. Gels melt easily when heated .
Types of gel: Jelly Opal
